The Great Saw Mill River Clean-Up in Westchester County, which is coordinated by The Saw Mill River Coalition/Groundwork Hudson Valley and local cleanup leaders is part of a large and ongoing community improvement project.
Be part of the group of volunteers (families, civic and youth groups, businesses) to join or lead cleanup crews, bagging tons of trash from streets, parks and streams, and connecting with neighbors and the outdoors. It’s fun, practical, meaningful, and easy. You gather some friends and we provide the bags and other treats to help you go for it! You do your cleanup, leave the bags for the local highway department, and report your cleanup results to SMRC.
Groups will be working at various sites from 10:00am-1:00pm. Click here to see a map of clean-up sites. Groundwork Hudson Valley will be providing tools, bags, and gloves. Please wear clothing appropriate for working outfdoors and close-toes shoes!
On Wednesday, May 9th from 4pm-7pm we will hold a “Kick-Off” when everyone is invited to come to the Science Barge to pick up their tools and T-shirts. All are invited, but only the team leaders need to show up. If no one for your group is able to come that day, we can organize a separate pick-up or drop-off of materials, but the event on the Barge will be a fun way for volunteers to meet each other, see the Science Barge and have some refreshments! The Barge is floating on the Hudson River just north of the Yonkers Pier. For directions, use 99 Dock St. Yonkers, NY 10701.
